Julie King: How to Talk When Kids Won’t Listen

Speaker Bio

Julie King is the author, with Joanna Faber, of two best-selling books: How To Talk So LITTLE Kids Will Listen: A Survival Guide to Life with Children Ages 2-7 and How To Talk When Kids Won’t Listen: Whining, Fighting, Meltdowns, Defiance, and Other Challenges of Childhood.  Julie and Joanna also collaborated on the companion app HOW TO TALK: Parenting Tips in Your Pocket, and the app Parenting Hero. Julie leads workshops online, consults with parents of children ages two to teens by phone and video, and speaks publicly to schools, businesses and parent groups across the U.S. and internationally. She received her AB from Princeton University and a JD from Yale Law School. Julie and her husband live in the San Francisco Bay Area in California, where they are visited now and then by their three grown children.

Dr. Christopher Willard: Growing Up Mindful

Speaker Bio

Dr. Christopher Willard, (Psy. D.) is a clinical psychologist, author and consultant based in Massachusetts. He has spoken in over thirty countries, and has presented at two TEDx events. He is the author of twenty books, including Alphabreaths (2019), Growing Up Mindful (2016) and How we Grow Through What we Go Through. (2022).

Dr. Willard has been practicing meditation for over 20 years, and teaching for almost as long. His thoughts on mental health have been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, mindful.org, cnn.com, and elsewhere.

Emily Delworth: The Peaceful Mother

Speaker Bio

Emilie Delworth is an accomplished Parenting Coach and Trauma Recovery Coach, specializing in helping fellow moms learn how to regulate their nervous systems, and thus their emotions, so that they may show up as the Peaceful Mothers they aspire to be. Having had a background in Early Childhood Education, Emilie knew she wanted to parent peacefully, but upon welcoming her daughter eathside, Emilie found herself overwhelmed with rage, which she now understands was nervous system dysregulation. Thus began Emilie’s journey into both inner child healing and somatic healing.

In discovering how to release trauma from her body and regulate through her many triggers, Emilie unlocked a newfound passion for helping other mothers do the same. She is the author of The Angry Mom’s Guide To Self-Regulation, which walks readers through their own process of learning to regulate their nervous systems and better manage their emotions, and also provides helpful free content to mothers all over the world via her social media pages.

Dr. Susan Pollak: Self-Compassion for Parents

Susan M. Pollak, MTS, EdD, is a psychologist in private practice in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is a longtime student of meditation and yoga who has been integrating the practices of meditation into psychotherapy since the 1980s. Dr. Pollak is cofounder and senior teacher at the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion at Harvard
Medical School/ Cambridge Health Alliance and was president of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy from 2010 to 2020. Dr. Pollak is a co-editor of The Cultural Transition; and a contributing author of Mapping the Moral Domain; Evocative Objects; and Mindfulness and Psychotherapy, 2 nd Edition. She is the co-author of Sitting
Together: Essential Skills for Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy and the author of Self-Compassion for Parents: Nurture Your Child by Caring for Yourself. She writes the popular blog, The Art of Now for Psychology Today, and is a frequent contributor to the Ten Percent Happier App.
